MUSCULAR PHYSIQUE

Intended for competitors with slightly bigger muscularity than accepted in the regular men’s physique.

This is not a “bodybuilder in shorts” category, it’s more a “model with muscle” category.

It is aimed at men who do weight training, keep fit and eat a healthy balanced diet, but who prefer to develop a more muscular, yet athletic and aesthetically pleasing physique.
They are fit looking contestants who display shape and symmetry, combined with some muscularity and good overall condition.

QUARTER TURNS AND COMPARISONS

Front pose- One hand on hip or both arms by sides or Both hands on hips (thumbs to the rear)

Side Pose- Front hand on hip or both arms by side and rear calf showing

Back Pose- One Hand on hip or both arms by side

Side pose front hand on the hip or both arms by side and the rear calf showing

Front double biceps with open palms

Rear double biceps with open palms

Abdominal pose of your choice

The quarter turns should appear effortless, and the presentation/posing round should be done without heavy tensing. Extreme tensing and posing can be marked down.  The athletes should have stage presence and poise and their personality and ability to present themselves onstage with confidence, should be visible.

JUDGING

The judges assess Muscular Mens Physique from the hair down.

Shape, balance, and proportion is, of course, the primary requirement as in all categories.

As well as shape, balance, and proportion, muscular men’s physique are judged on their presentation including skin condition and tone as well as facial features. The judges are looking for a healthy look but can display more conditioning and muscularity than regular mens physique.

POSING ROUTINE - 1 MINUTE 

The competitor should walk from the side of the stage to the centre back of the stage and have one pose and then walk directly to the centre of the stage in front of the judges and do the 7 poses with smooth transitions.

ATTIRE

The shorts should be to knee length and unlike regular mens physique can be tight on the quads.  They can be of any colour to enhance the look of the physique.  Avoid big logos.
